Head of Iran’s interest section in Cairo Mojtaba Amani stressed the importance of unity between the Shia and Sunni Muslims.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a meeting with the current Grand Sheik of Al-Azhar Ahmed Mohamed el-Tayeb, he said dirty hands are involved in spreading wrong thoughts and incorrect religious decrees in order to sow discord among Shia and Sunni Muslims.

He referred to the religious decree issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei forbidding sacrilege of close companions and spouses of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as well as the religious signs belonging to the Sunni Muslims.

He further urged direct connections between the Sunni and Shia senior scholars.

The Iranian official also hailed the role of Al-Azhar in promoting proximity and understanding between Sunni and Shia Muslims to confront enemies.
